Wedding Delivery Details

If you are ordering something from John Lewis you will need to put in delivery details (see rant below). For this we ask that you use nominated day delivery and set the date as 17th July and choose the 7am-5pm delivery slot. If this day in unavailable, please put in the 16th July. Please put the delivery address as:

21 Erconwald Street,

London

W12 0BP

If you are doing this, please tell us to expect a delivery on your chosen day to ensure one of us is in!

Rant…

In September 2020 (after our original wedding date!) John Lewis shut down their old gift list service and have instead started a new wish list service. Though on the surface these look the same they are really not – the most pressing problem being that they don’t provide an option to get everything delivered together. This would mean guests would have to do the above palaver for every item – except items less than £200 John Lewis do not offer free nominated day delivery, so each person in this case would have to pay an extra £7.95 for this. Indeed for anyone buying gifts less than £30 there is no way for delivery to be free at all, and rather they would have to use click and collect and bring the gift physically with them. A back of the envelope calculation showed us that there was a chance John Lewis would be scalping in excess of £500 of our guests in total, which we felt was bang out of order.

Anyway as such we chose to use an alternative gift-list provider – the wedding shop. The problem with the wedding shop is they stock a more limited range, particularly in the mundane but incredibly useful things. This is why we’ve asked for John Lewis vouchers rather than theirs – no one wants to but a toilet roll holder, but they are incredibly useful…

p.s. sorry this is hosted on my research group’s website…
