PhD Students

Liam Parkin

Liam joined the group in 2024 for the last year of his PhD. Before this he was a member of the Ashley group. He completed his MChem at the University of Manchester. During his MChem project he investigated the synthesis of heteroleptic bis-cyclopentadienyl dysprosium complexes for use as single molecule magnets. He now works on main group, high valence complexes as electrophilic catalysts for the conversion of methane to methanol. When not in the lab Liam enjoys hiking, going to the pub, and biking. His favourite drink is beer.

Amanda Fogh

Amanda joined the group in 2021 for her Ph.D. studying nitrogen hydrogenation catalysis. She completed her B.Sc. at the University of British Columbia. Under the supervision of Dr. Laurel Schafer, she investigated the reductive coupling of alcohols with vanadium catalysts for her honour’s thesis. In her free time, Amanda enjoys climbing, reading, and exploring what London has to offer. Her favourite drink is probably a long island iced tea.

Sara Belazregue

Sara started her PhD in September 2022 having joined the group in 2021 for her MRes Catalysis project on multidentate iron phosphine complexes for carbon dioxide hydrogenation. She completed her BSc at King’s College London. She investigated the reversible reduction of protons  to hydrogen by [FeFe]-Hydrogenase active site biomimics under the supervision of Dr. Graeme Hogarth. In her free time, Sara loves to paint, read, and go to art exhibitions with her little sister. Her favourite drink is a passionfruit martini.

Masters Students

Marcel Potocnik

Marcel joined the group in 2022 for his MSci project investigating calcium pincer complexes. He enjoys watching football most weekends and is a big Arsenal fan. Additionally, he is also a big JJK fan, and like reading the manga each week (minus chapter 236, still in denial about that). His favourite drink is a some high quality H2O.

Helena Dziedzic

Helena joined the group in 2023 as part of her master’s programme and is currently researching the detoxification of chlorinated pollutants. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, printmaking and relaxing with her two cats. Her favourite drink is fizzy water (she likes the static-y taste).

Post-dogtoral researcher associates

Cailler Chadwick

Cailler joined the group in January 2022. He is working on a PuphD on ‘Stuff: Eat or Chew?’. He is everyone’s favourite group member.
